Mission Statement
The
Texas Motorcycle Rights Association
(TMRA2) was founded July 4, 1992. The stated purpose is to return
Texas to the Representative Republic as envisioned by those who founded
this state and this nation. TMRA2 is a member driven association.
We have established a full time office within close proximity to the State Capitol
and have a daily presence during the legislative sessions. Our pledge is
to keep citizens informed of the daily political happenings in our state and
around the nation. Our Warriors work to introduce and pass Bills into law, that
are favorable to Texas Citizens and to try and prevent bad Bills from becoming law.
Issues addressed by our Warriors include:
-
Opened HOV Lanes to Motorcycles
-
Changed tolls on new toll roads for bikes with trailers or sidecars.
-
Caused Breckenridge Park to change their ban on motorcycles.
-
Joined with Senator Patterson in passing SB 60, the Right To Carry Bill.
-
Convinced SW Memorial Hospital to lift their no motorcycle parking rule.
-
Helped kill "No Fault" insurance during two consecutive legislative sessions.
-
Received Handicap License Plates for Motorcycles.
-
Were successful in helping to kill Road Block Bills during two sessions that
would allow any police agency in the state to set up road blocks for four
hours at a time and search anyone stopped by the officers without probable cause.
-
Increased Budget for Rider Training by $ 424,000 annually during two sessions.
-
Passed Bill to allow the motorcycle safety course to count as the road test
to get your motorcycle license. Also, you can take the ERC for ticket dismissal.
-
Modification of the state helmet law in '97 so you have a choice to ride without your helmet.
-
Active in repeal of the ISTEA federal helmet mandate.
-
Passed Bill to require DPS Officers to take Sensitivity Training to prevent
profiling motorcycle riders for traffic stops.
-
Helped draft and pass legislation to allow any person who can legally own a
gun in Texas to carry it, concealed, in/on your personal vehicle without a
Concealed Carry Permit.
Unsuccessful Bills were (A) to require record votes on all Bills. (They don't want
you to know how they vote), (B) to increase penalties for Failure To Yield when
that action results in serious bodily injury or death to an innocent party (C)
to prohibit medical insurance policies from refusing to pay for any injuries while
the insured is involved in a legal activity etc...
We have been recognized nation wide as a leader in defense of citizen's rights.
Just recently David Van Os (candidate for Texas Attorney General) stated on
television that our organization is recognized as the leading group working
to defend the constitution and individual liberty in this state.
